Dr. Nima Kianoush
Specialist Periodontist

DDS, BDS, PhD, DClinDent (Perio), MRACDS (Perio), GCRST

Dr. Nima Kianoush worked for 15 years as a dentist, before completing his Post-graduate studies in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry from the University of Sydney.

He has been involved in teaching at the University of Sydney since 2008, for postgraduate dental students. He has also been heavily involved in research and completed his PhD in Oral Life Sciences and Oral Microbiology at the Institute of Dental Research, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Sydney.

Dr. Kianoush’s research has been accepted in peer-reviewed journals for publications. He has received research grants from the Australian Dental Research Foundation (ADRF), International Scholarships, as well as grants from the Faculty of Dentistry, The University of Sydney.

Dr. Kianoush has been a member of International Association for Dental Research (IADR) since 2010. He is also a member of International Team for Implantology (ITI), Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) and Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists (ANZAP). He is an active reviewer for a number of scientific journals in the field of oral biology and microbiology. 
 His past and current research interests have been on oral microbiology and peri-implant disease.

Dr. Kianoush undertook and completed the prestigious Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program (GCSRT) from Harvard Medical School in 2023.

Due to his research and academic background, Dr. Kianoush believes in scientifically supported, evidence-based approach in periodontal and implant treatment and does not consider experimental treatment as an option.

When not at clinical practice, besides enjoying family time with his wife (Dr. Reihaneh Nassirian), Nima reviews scientific research literature and works on his lecture presentations.  He also enjoys swimming and playing tennis.

Dr. Fan Liu (Leo)
Specialist Periodontist

DMD, MDS (Perio), M Perio RCS, M Perio RCSP

Dr. Liu is a registered periodontist in Australia and New Zealand.

He received his specialist training from the prestigious and highly ranked University of Hong Kong from 2013 till 2016 and was awarded Master of Dental Surgery in Periodontology. He was then admitted as Specialty Member in Periodontics of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Dr. Liu is an honorary clinical assistant professor at the University of Hong Kong.  His research focuses on periodontal biotype, and his main publication was cited by the 2017 new classification scheme for periodontal and peri-implant diseases and conditions.

Dr. Liu is an active member of various international organizations of periodontology and implant dentistry, including the Osteology Foundation for Oral Tissue Regeneration, the International Team of Implantology, and the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists.

Dr. Liu speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin.

Dr. Max Fertman
Specialist Periodontist

BDS, DClinDent (Perio)

Dr. Fertman completed his initial dental training at the University of Adelaide before advancing his specialisation in Periodontics at the University of Sydney.

Over the past decade, Dr. Fertman has cultivated extensive experience in a variety of settings, ranging from public health facilities to private practices throughout New South Wales and South Australia.

Dr. Fertman is deeply passionate about all facets of periodontics, particularly in improving the gum health of his patients which in turn enhances their overall health and quality of life. His expertise encompasses all areas of periodontics including advanced surgical implant therapies.

Furthermore, Dr. Fertman actively contributes to the dental profession by mentoring and supervising dental students at the University of Sydney. He is a proud member of several prestigious organisations, including the Australian Dental Association, Australian & New Zealand Academy of Periodontists, Australian Society of Periodontology, and the American Academy of Periodontology.

In his spare time, you will find Max at the gym, playing sports and spending time with family and friends.

Ms Rosalyn Kieselbach
Practice Manager

Rosalyn has over 35 years experience in the dental field and has spent more than 25 of those years working in the specialty of Periodontics.

Rosalyn’s knowledge and experience are extensive; however, she considers her most valuable asset to be in customer service. She will go above and beyond to make your experience with Shire Periodontics welcoming, friendly and compassionate. She will endeavor to make each visit for you as comfortable as possible with special focus on individual patient care. Rosalyn looks forward to greeting you at our practice in Miranda.

In her spare time Rosalyn enjoys antique and vintage shopping, travelling and gardening.

Ms Aaminah Siddiqi
Oral Health Therapist

BOH (USYD)

Born and raised in Sydney, Aaminah is a qualified Oral Health Therapist who earned her Bachelor’s degree in Oral Health from the University of Sydney. 

Having treated patients in periodontics for many years, Aaminah is passionate about getting to know you, providing care and comfort for your regular maintenance visits, and improving and maintaining your oral health and periodontal outcomes.

Aaminah has been employed at several hospitals within the Western Sydney Local Health District, notably at Westmead and Mt Druitt Dental Hospitals. In the course of her career, she has acquired extensive experience in caring for a diverse range of patients, with a particular focus on the treatment and management of periodontal disease. Aaminah is a dedicated advocate for painless dentistry and strives to create a comfortable atmosphere for her patients.

Outside of work, Aaminah is an avid follower of Formula 1 and enjoys going out to try new restaurants with friends.

Ms Lexi Stroh
Dental Hygienist

DDH (VIU)

Lexi completed her diploma of Dental Hygiene at Vancouver Island University in British Columbia Canada in 2021 with Honours and has recently relocated to sunny Australia to enjoy life by the beach while advancing her career as a Dental Hygienist.

Lexi is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care while also making patients feel comfortable and welcome. She thoroughly enjoys seeing patients succeed in their oral health and knowing that she had a part in making that possible. With experience in a number of different dental clinics through Canada and now Australia, she has the knowledge to treat a wide variety of patients.
Outside of work, Lexi‘s hobbies include her 1993 Nissan Skyline, horseback riding, and the gym.

Dr. Nancy S Chen
Dental Sedationist

B.Med.SCi, B.DENT, Grad Dip Clin Dent (Conscious Sedation and Pain Control), MSc Med (Pain Management)

Dr. Chen offers high level dental sedation services in our practice as a visiting Dental Sedationist.

Dr. Chen is a Senior Dental Sedationist at Westmead Centre for Oral Health and holds an Honorary Clinical Appointment as a Dental Conscious Sedation Practitioner, Department of Anaesthetics, Westmead Hospital.

Dr. Chen is a Clinical Senior Lecturer with the School of Dentistry, University of Sydney for the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Dentistry in Conscious Sedation and Pain Control and Doctor of Dental Medicine programmes.

Dr. Chen is passionate about her work and strives to be at the forefront of the dental sedation field, with the ultimate goal of helping our patients attain their dental treatment in a warm and comfortable environment.

Ms Kim Willis
Clinical Chairside Assistant

Kim has been in the dental field for over 25 years and is a highly trained Dental Assistant from Canada (CADA)

Kim is current with continuing dental education classes – a commitment she takes seriously to help our patients reach optimal periodontal health.  She spends a lot of time educating our patients and encourages them to maintain excellent oral hygiene.  Our patients appreciate her gentle and compassionate chairside manner.

In her free time, Kim enjoys golfing, pilates and long walks.

Ms Ally Clift
Clinical Chairside Assistant

Ally has been working in the dental field since 2020 and has worked in both general dentistry and periodontics.

Ally has completed a Certificate 3 in Dental Assisting and has ambitions of furthering her studies in the near future. She is passionate about educating patients and advocates maintaining excellent oral hygiene as it assists in achieving a great sense of wellbeing and life satisfaction.

Ally enjoys walking her dog, going to the gym and playing rugby union.
